Helen Kinnear (1894-1970) served as a county court judge for Haldimand County from 1943 to 1962. Kinnear was the first woman in the British Empire to be appointed a King’s Counsel (1934) and to be appointed a county court judge, and was also the first women to argue a case before the Supreme Court of Canada.
