Biographical Sketch
Eric Rutherford Murray was born in 1928. He attended McMaster University in Hamilton, and received a BA degree in 1950. He attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Bar in 1954. Based in Toronto, Murray worked as a civil and criminal litigator for the firm of Genest Murray DesBrisay and Lamek, and was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1968. He was a past president of the Lawyers Club of Toronto and a member of the Medico-Legal Society, the Advocates' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, American College of Trial Lawyers, and the Chief Justices Bench and Bar Committee. In addition to his legal work, Murray is a high-level bridge player and was actively involved in the American Contract Bridge League and the Canadian Bridge Federation.

Fonds consists of records accumulated and/or used by Eric R. Murray, a Toronto lawyer. These records pertain in particular to Murray's law-related social activities, documenting his participation in dinners celebrating the achievements of colleagues. Included are photographs and emphemera.
