Biographical Sketch
D'Arcy Argue Counsell Martin was born on October 23rd, 1898, in Hamilton, Ontario. He was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 1918. After articling with William Hugh Masson Wardrope in Hamilton, he was called to the Bar in 1923 and was appointed a King's Counsel in 1931. Together with his father D'Arcy Richard Charles Martin and brother Hubert Anthony Martin, he was a partner at the law firm of Martin & Martin in Hamilton. In addition to his legal career, Martin was involved in politics, serving first as a Hamilton City Council Alderman from 1927 to 1931, and later as a Conservative Member of Parliament in Ontario, representing the riding of Hamilton West, from 1931 to 1934. Martin also served as Chancellor of the Board and Senate of McMaster University. D'Arcy Argue Counsell Martin died on June 7th, 1992.

Collection consists of two marriage settlement documents collected by D'Arcy Argue Counsell Martin, a lawyer in Hamilton, Ontario. His ancestor, Reverend Richard Martin, is named as a trustee in one of the documents.
